Joby showcases 200 mph eVTOL on Golden Gate Bay flight, secures 700,000-sq-ft Dayton plant
JOBY•Joby completed a piloted electric air taxi flight across San Francisco Bay and around the Golden Gate Bridge, showcasing its four-passenger, zero-emission eVTOL with 200 mph top speed and 150-mile range. Its January acquisition of a 700,000-sq-ft Dayton plant paves way for four eVTOL aircraft per month from 2027.
1. Electric Air Taxi Flight Demonstration
In March, Joby’s pilot flew its eVTOL aircraft across San Francisco Bay and circled the Golden Gate Bridge as part of the Electric Skies Tour. The zero-emission air taxi carried a pilot plus up to four passengers, achieved speeds up to 200 mph, and demonstrated a 150-mile range to showcase operational readiness.
2. Dayton Manufacturing Expansion
In January, Joby acquired a 700,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Dayton, Ohio, to support ramped production of its eVTOL aircraft. The site is slated to produce four vehicles per month from 2027 and complements a propeller manufacturing plant at Dayton International Airport that began operations in October 2025.
