JPMorgan banker renews defamation countersuit against sexual assault accuser Rana
JPM•JPMorgan executive director Lorna Hajdini renewed her defamation countersuit against Chirayu Rana, saying his allegations damaged her reputation and caused emotional distress. She seeks unspecified damages; JPMorgan separately denied Rana’s claims against the bank.
1. Countersuit renewed
In a Monday night filing in Manhattan federal court, Hajdini said Rana pursued a deliberate scheme to portray her as a racist sexual predator and criminal to extract millions of dollars from her and JPMorgan. She seeks unspecified damages for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and other civil wrongs.
2. Claims disputed
Rana’s lawyer said he rejects Hajdini’s allegations and intends to defend against the counterclaims, while remaining confident in Rana’s claims. In a separate filing, JPMorgan denied Rana’s allegations that the bank accepted racism and that Hajdini blackmailed him into repeated sexual assaults.
