Kentucky American Water Invests $3 Million to Replace Over Three Miles of Water Main
AWK•Kentucky American Water is investing $3 million to replace 5,263 feet of 6-inch PVC main on Greenup Road/Highway 845 and over three miles of aging 6-inch line on US 127 with new ductile iron pipe. Work includes installing a pump station at Owen County Fairgrounds to improve supply and fire protection.
1. Investment and Scope
Kentucky American Water is dedicating approximately $3 million to strengthen water infrastructure across Owen County. The initiative targets aging mains and system enhancements to ensure reliable delivery and long-term value for residential, commercial and emergency services.
2. Pipeline Replacement Projects
The Greenup Road/Highway 845 segment will replace 5,263 feet of 6-inch-diameter PVC main with new 6-inch ductile iron, while the US 127 route will see over three miles of 6-inch pipe upgraded to 8-inch ductile iron. Both projects are underway with work scheduled Monday through Friday.
3. Booster Pump Installation and Benefits
A new booster pump station at the Owen County Fairgrounds will increase water pressure and supply capacity for customers north of Owenton. This enhancement also strengthens fire protection and supports consistent service delivery throughout the community.
