1. Kroger Health Surpasses 250,000 Student Participants in Drug Safety Program
Kroger Health today announced that more than 250,000 students have completed its Prescription Drug Safety: Know the truth curriculum, marking a major milestone in the company’s effort to reduce prescription drug misuse among teens. Launched in partnership with Everfi in 2018, the program is offered at no cost to middle and high schools and focuses on safe use, storage and disposal of medications. Participation has grown steadily from just 700 students in the 2017–18 academic year to nearly 65,000 in 2024–25, reflecting increased demand and Kroger Health’s commitment to community education.
2. Measurable Improvement in Student Awareness and Preparedness
Pre- and post-assessment data collected by Everfi indicate significant improvement in student knowledge and readiness: 87% of participants reported improved ability to recognize warning signs of misuse, and 82% felt prepared to support peers affected by prescription drug abuse. These outcomes align with Kroger Health’s goal of fostering healthier decision-making and building resilience in communities. Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health, stated that equipping young people with practical skills not only promotes individual well-being but also strengthens neighborhood safety nets.
3. Strategic Collaboration with Everfi and Future Expansion Plans
Kroger Health’s alliance with Everfi, a leader in digital life-skills education, leverages interactive modules and real-world scenarios to engage students. Ray Martinez, CEO of Everfi, praised the joint initiative’s impact and highlighted plans to broaden the curriculum’s reach into additional school districts over the next two years. Kroger Health intends to integrate new content on mental health and opioid risk assessment, aiming to expand program access by 30% and reach underserved rural and inner-city schools by the end of 2027.
