Lightbridge publishes shareholder letter on expedited pathway for Lightbridge Fuel to commercial reactors
LTBR•Funding and timeline goals
Lightbridge expects existing cash resources to cover SHED construction, operations and decommissioning. Detailed SHED cost estimates remain in development.
The company targets lead test assemblies in commercial reactors by the mid-2030s and large-scale commercial use by 2040, while aiming to beat both timelines.
Accelerated commercialization plan
Lightbridge published a shareholder letter outlining an accelerated commercialization plan for Lightbridge Fuel following selection for DOE’s Launch Pad INL program.
The plan splits development into a DOE-authorized SHED pilot facility for lead test assemblies, separate from an NRC-licensed LEFF commercial-scale production facility.
Potential utility value proposition
Lightbridge reiterated its view of the potential utility value proposition for its fuel, including:
- up to 10% uprate without steam generator changes
- up to 20% with higher-capacity steam generators
