Lucid Deploys FactoryTalk MES to Scale Saudi EV Plant Operations
Lucid partnered with Rockwell Automation to deploy its FactoryTalk MES across assembly, paint, stamping, body and powertrain operations at the new King Abdullah Economic City EV plant in Saudi Arabia. It includes local workforce training to develop domestic EV manufacturing expertise and support Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
1. Strategic Deepening of Lucid–Rockwell Partnership
Lucid Group has strengthened its partnership with Rockwell Automation to support the expansion of its electric vehicle manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia. This site, the Kingdom’s first purpose-built automotive plant, aligns directly with Saudi Vision 2030 and marks a landmark in Lucid’s international growth strategy. Under the new agreement, Lucid will leverage Rockwell’s enterprise software solutions to underpin production scalability, quality control and global supply-chain integration as it prepares to introduce its midsize vehicle program in the region.
2. FactoryTalk MES Driving Operational Excellence
Lucid will deploy Rockwell Automation’s FactoryTalk manufacturing execution system across all major production areas—general assembly, paint, stamping, body and powertrain. The platform delivers real-time visibility into process performance, traceability of sub-components and automated feedback loops for quality assurance. Lucid expects these systems to reduce production cycle times by up to 15% and to improve first-pass yield rates by 8% as the plant ramps toward full capacity over the next 18 months.
3. Local Workforce Development and Skill Transfer
Beyond software implementation, Rockwell’s local team will provide both instructor-led and virtual training programs to cultivate Saudi EV manufacturing expertise. These sessions will cover MES operation, data-driven maintenance protocols and advanced robotics integration. Lucid projects that training over 250 local engineers and technicians by mid-2026 will support sustained plant operation, align with Saudization targets and ensure long-term industrial development in line with national objectives.
