Lucid Group and partners Uber and Nuro unveiled a premium six-passenger electric robotaxi based on Lucid’s Gravity SUV at CES 2026, featuring integrated high-resolution cameras, lidar and in-cabin interactive screens. Autonomous on-road testing led by Nuro began in December in the San Francisco Bay Area ahead of a planned 2026 launch.

1. MotorTrend Honors Lucid Gravity for Charging Innovation

On January 6, 2026, MotorTrend awarded the Lucid Gravity SUV its Best Public Charging Experience award, highlighting the vehicle’s combination of high-efficiency powertrain, native NACS compatibility and ultra-fast charging battery system. The Grand Touring trim’s 123 kWh pack can add 200 miles of range in under 11 minutes when connected to a 400 kW DC fast charger, while the Touring trim’s 89 kWh pack achieves the same in 15 minutes on a 350 kW charger. Lucid’s proprietary Range Spider Route Planner, which visually maps estimated real-world range and more than 25,000 Tesla Superchargers plus Electrify America stations, further differentiates the customer experience. Emad Dlala, SVP of Engineering & Digital, noted that this accolade builds on the high-voltage platform pioneered by the Lucid Air and underscores the company’s leadership in EV charging technology.

2. Strategic Robotaxi Partnership with Uber and Nuro

At CES 2026, Lucid unveiled a production-intent robotaxi in collaboration with Uber Technologies and Nuro, based on its Gravity SUV platform. The six-passenger vehicle integrates an Uber-designed in-cabin experience—touchscreen climate and seat controls, media personalization and support request options—and a next-generation sensor suite of lidar, radar and high-resolution cameras moderated by NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor compute. Nuro commenced supervised on-road testing in the San Francisco Bay Area in December, evaluating critical Level 4 autonomy capabilities including lane changes, pedestrian yielding and traffic signal response. Pending final validation, series production is slated to begin at Lucid’s Arizona facility later this year, with a commercial launch planned in the Bay Area in late 2026.

3. Robust Production and Delivery Growth Sets Stage for Next-Gen Platform

Lucid achieved a 104% year-over-year increase in vehicle production in 2025, building 18,378 units, and delivered 15,841 vehicles—a 55% increase over 2024. In Q4 alone, production rose 116% quarter-over-quarter to 8,412 units, with deliveries up 31% to 5,345. These results reflect resolution of early Gravity SUV ramp-up challenges and position the company for the launch of its new mid-size EV platform targeted at the $50,000 price tier, directly competing with mainstream crossover models. Management has indicated that this next model will leverage Lucid’s vertically integrated factories in Arizona and Saudi Arabia to drive further operational efficiencies and margin improvement.
