Markel Appoints Sebastian Rice as Global Trade Credit Development Head Overseeing Four Hubs
Markel International named Sebastian Rice as Head of Global Development – Trade Credit reporting to Phil Amlot and overseeing underwriters in New York, Singapore, Dubai and London. He will drive solution-led underwriting and business development across UK and Europe, building on the Non-Cancellable Limits product to address geopolitical and supply chain risks.

Markel International appointed Sebastian Rice as Head of Global Development – Trade Credit, effective immediately. He reports to Phil Amlot, Global Head of Trade Credit – International, and will oversee a global cohort of underwriters in New York, Singapore, Dubai and London.
2. Role Responsibilities and Strategic Focus
Rice will drive innovative, solution-led underwriting and business development across the UK and Europe. His mandate includes enhancing capacity, tailoring offerings to client needs and addressing evolving geopolitical, supply chain and credit risks to support profitable growth.
3. Rice's Background and Past Achievements
Since joining Markel in January 2024 as Head of Business Development Europe – Trade Credit, Rice helped launch the Non-Cancellable Limits product. He brings over 20 years of underwriting experience from Euler Hermes, Atradius and QBE Europe, strengthening Markel's trade credit capabilities.
