MediciNova posts Phase 2 MN-001 topline data showing early triglyceride reduction in NAFLD patients with type 2 diabetes
MNOV•MediciNova reported an early triglyceride-lowering signal versus placebo in its Phase 2 MN-001 trial for NAFLD patients with type 2 diabetes, but the longer-term comparison was not statistically significant. HDL-related measures improved significantly; liver fat and weight trends were not clearly significant, and no drug-related serious adverse events were reported.

MediciNova disclosed topline Phase 2 results for MN-001 in NAFLD with hypertriglyceridemia tied to type 2 diabetes. The trial showed an early triglyceride-lowering signal versus placebo, while the longer-term comparison did not reach statistical significance. HDL-related measures improved significantly; liver fat and body weight trended better without clear significance, and no drug-related serious adverse events were reported. Management said a larger follow-on study is needed, with work underway on its population, endpoints and sample size.
