Meta to delay new commercial terms criticised by publishers, advertisers
META•Meta will move the implementation date for updated commercial terms from October 30 to November 20, saying it needs more time to address concerns from publishers and digital advertisers. The groups said the terms would give Meta an unlimited right to use their content for AI services; Meta rejected the claims.
1. Terms delayed
Meta Platforms will extend the effective date of its updated Commercial Terms and Self-Serve Ad Terms to November 20 from October 30. A spokesperson said the extra time would allow Meta to explain what is changing and what is not to partners and stakeholders.
2. Complaints over content use
Publishers and digital advertisers complained to EU and UK antitrust authorities that the terms would give Meta an unlimited right to use their content for AI services. Meta rejected the claims.
