MGP Launches 9,665-Bottle 109-Proof Gehrig Reserve Bourbon Priced at $129.99

MGPIMGPI

MGP’s branded spirits division is releasing Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve, a 109-proof, four-mash-bill bourbon limited to 9,665 bottles at a $129.99 SRP to honor Gehrig’s 109 RBI season and career plate appearances. The launch drives a $9,665 Live Like Lou Foundation donation plus up to $2,130 from social engagement.

1. Product Launch

Remus Lou Gehrig Reserve Bourbon has begun rolling out nationwide in select markets with an SRP of $129.99 per 750mL bottle. MGP’s Ross & Squibb Distillery will release exactly 9,665 numbered bottles to commemorate each of Lou Gehrig’s career plate appearances.

2. Mash Bill and Proof Symbolism

Crafted by Master Distiller Ian Stirsman, the expression blends four mash bills—14% 2016 bourbon with 44% rye, 70% 2017 bourbon with 49% rye, and two 2019 bourbons at 8% each featuring 99% corn and 36% rye—finished at 109 proof to mark Gehrig’s 109 RBI season.

3. Philanthropic Initiative

MGP will donate $9,665 to the Live Like Lou Foundation, representing one dollar per career plate appearance, and will contribute up to an additional $2,130 based on social media engagement, underscoring a commitment to ALS research and awareness.

4. Brand and Financial Impact

The limited release could generate approximately $1.25 million in gross sales, bolstering MGP’s branded spirits division while enhancing consumer engagement and philanthropic branding ahead of future product launches.
