Mondelez, Amcor to Use 134 Tonnes Recycled Plastic for Easter Packaging

AMCRAMCR

Mondelēz and Amcor will use 134 tonnes of recycled plastic to package 16 million Cadbury chocolate tablets and 70 million Mini Eggs bags for Easter 2026. Mini Eggs packs in 31.9g, 74g and 256g sizes will feature 65% recycled plastic and Easter tablet wrappers will have 80% recycled content.

1. Partnership Scope

Mondelēz International has partnered with Amcor to introduce AmFiniti Recycled Content packaging for its Cadbury Easter range in 2026. The collaboration will source 134 tonnes of post-consumer plastic waste, applying advanced recycling technology to deliver sustainable packaging at scale.

2. Packaging Details

Cadbury Mini Eggs packaging in 31.9g, 74g and 256g sizes will contain 65% certified recycled plastic, while Easter chocolate tablet wrappers will feature 80% certified recycled content. The initiative also replaces the ribbon handle on Special Gesture Easter Eggs with cardboard and adds a QR code on Mini Eggs bags linking to packaging material details.

3. Sustainability Targets

This development supports Mondelēz’s goal to design 98% of its packaging for recyclability by 2030, up from 96% currently. The company also plans to cut virgin plastic in rigid packaging by at least 25% within the same timeframe, demonstrating a broader push toward circular packaging solutions.
