MongoDB has appointed Pablo Stern as Chief Product Officer for AI and Emerging Products and promoted Ben Cefalo to Chief Product Officer for Core Products, reporting to CEO CJ Desai. Leadership expansion aims to drive iterations across AI portfolios Search and Vector Search and build on $2.46 billion FY26 revenue.

1. Expanded Product Leadership Team

MongoDB has strengthened its executive bench by adding two Chief Product Officers—Pablo Stern for AI and Emerging Products and Ben Cefalo for Core Products—both reporting directly to President and CEO CJ Desai alongside CTO Jim Scharf.

2. Pablo Stern to Lead AI and Emerging Products

Stern will oversee MongoDB’s AI portfolio, including Search, Vector Search, and Voyage, plus future AI initiatives. He joins from ServiceNow, where he grew IT Operations Management from $100 million to over $1 billion in five years, and will be based in San Francisco to leverage the global AI ecosystem.

3. Ben Cefalo to Head Core Products

Cefalo, a MongoDB veteran since 2017, will manage the core database offerings such as Atlas and Enterprise Advanced. His leadership of core products has supported the company’s growth to $2.46 billion in FY26 revenue and over 65,200 customers.

4. Strategic Implications for Growth

By separating leadership for core and emerging products, MongoDB aims to accelerate product roadmaps, improve iteration speed, and cement its position as a generational data platform for AI-driven applications.
