Nouveau Monde Graphite Expands Panasonic Offtake to Cover All Phase 2 Output
NMG•Canada's trade mission to Japan secured over C$1 billion in commercial deals, including a record 14 agreements worth more than C$1.7 billion to advance critical minerals partnerships. Nouveau Monde Graphite expanded its anode-material offtake pact with Panasonic Energy last fall to cover all Phase 2 output from its Quebec project.
1. Trade Mission Highlights
Canada led a delegation of roughly 300 participants from 175 companies to Tokyo, securing more than C$1 billion (US$705 million) in deals and setting a record with 14 commercial agreements valued at over C$1.7 billion to strengthen critical minerals collaboration.
2. Panasonic Offtake Expansion
Nouveau Monde Graphite's anode-material offtake agreement with Panasonic Energy, initially covering early production, was expanded last fall to encompass potentially all of the company’s future Phase 2 output from its Quebec-based mine and processing facilities.
3. Strategic Supply Chain Impact
The expanded offtake ensures Japanese battery makers receive non-Chinese graphite supply, bolsters NMG's role in the global critical minerals market and aligns with G7 objectives to diversify rare-earth and battery-material sourcing.
