Plug Power Commissions 5 MW Electrolyzer at Denmark PtX Site, Enables 550 Ton Output
PLUG•Plug Power commissioned a 5 MW GenEco PEM electrolyzer at the Måde PtX facility in Esbjerg, Denmark, bringing one of the country’s first operational Power-to-X sites online. The containerized design cut onsite complexity and supports annual production of 550 metric tons of RFNBO-certified green hydrogen, roughly 1,500 truckloads.
1. Commissioning of the 5 MW Electrolyzer
Plug Power completed installation, commissioning, site acceptance testing and handover of a 5 MW GenEco PEM electrolyzer at the Måde PtX facility in Esbjerg. The fully containerized unit simplified onsite work and enabled rapid transition to active hydrogen production.
2. Annual Production and Certification
The electrolyzer is expected to produce about 550 metric tons of green hydrogen annually, equivalent to roughly 1,500 truckloads. Output is certified as Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin under ISCC standards, meeting stringent low-carbon criteria.
3. Strategic Impact for Plug Power
This project highlights Plug Power’s standardized delivery model and growing base of over 70 GenEco systems globally. Repeatable execution and streamlined commissioning are accelerating the company’s expansion into Europe’s emerging Power-to-X market.
