PureCycle and IPL Schoeller Launch 25% PCR Food Containers Nationwide
PCT•PureCycle and IPL Schoeller launched the first commercial food-contact tubs and lids with 25% PureFive® recycled polypropylene for Cleveland Kitchen, rolling out nationwide this month. The tubs meet 2024 New Jersey and California recycled-content mandates and national retailers’ sustainability requirements, highlighting PureCycle’s scalable dissolution recycling process.
1. Partnership Launch
PureCycle and IPL Schoeller have collaborated to develop 24-ounce tubs and lids containing 25% PureFive® recycled polypropylene, marking the first commercial-scale, food-contact grocery container using PureCycle’s dissolution recycling technology. Cleveland Kitchen will roll out the packaging nationwide this month, showcasing real-world application of high-clarity, FDA-compliant PCR resin.
2. Regulatory Compliance
The new containers satisfy New Jersey’s 2024 recycled-content law and emerging California mandates, and address national retailers’ rising sustainability requirements for PCR packaging. PureFive® resin is GreenCircle Certified for recycled content and meets FDA food-contact standards without additives or contaminants.
3. Market Expansion
PureCycle and IPL Schoeller plan to extend this partnership across the packaging portfolio, leveraging IPL Schoeller’s 26-facility global footprint to supply rigid containers for food, personal care and household brands. This scalable infrastructure positions PureCycle to meet expanding state-level extended producer responsibility and recycled-content mandates across North America and beyond.
