QuantumScape, Honda R&D Begin Multi-Year Solid-State Battery Development Program
QS•QuantumScape signed a joint research agreement with Honda R&D to co-develop its solid-state lithium-metal battery platform through a multi-year program targeting cell design and manufacturing scale-up. The deal follows Honda’s hands-on evaluation and technical benchmarking, which identified QS’s superior energy density and safety for automotive applications.

Prior to the agreement, Honda conducted an in-depth technical evaluation and competitive benchmarking of QS’s solid-state technology. That assessment highlighted the batteries’ higher energy density, enhanced safety profile and potential for integration across a range of automotive applications.
3. Commercialization and Scale-up Plans
Under the partnership, both parties will share expertise in material science, cell engineering and production methodologies. QuantumScape aims to leverage Honda’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities to accelerate its roadmap for automotive-graded battery modules and achieve high-volume manufacturing readiness.
