Raytheon Qualifies European AMRAAM Suppliers and Doubles Stinger Production Capacity
RTX•Raytheon’s RTX business is testing new European suppliers for AMRAAM missile components under NATO funding to boost capacity and accelerate deliveries. Diehl Defence will produce Stinger guidance sections and source subcomponents in Europe, enabling RTX to double Stinger missile throughput with final assembly in the Netherlands.
1. AMRAAM Production Capacity Expansion
Raytheon has launched feasibility studies with the U.S. government and multiple NATO allies to qualify additional European suppliers for priority AMRAAM missile components. This initiative aims to increase annual production capacity, accelerate delivery schedules, and enhance supply chain resilience for U.S. and allied air defense forces.
2. Stinger Production Doubling
In partnership with Diehl Defence and key Dutch suppliers, Raytheon will localize production of Stinger missile guidance sections and related subcomponents across Europe. Final assembly, testing, and completion will occur in the Netherlands, targeting a 100% increase in annual Stinger throughput.
3. Strategic Implications
These dual capacity expansions reinforce the transatlantic defense industrial base and address urgent air defense needs for more than 40 nations. Enhanced production capabilities are poised to support future NATO procurements, strengthen RTX’s manufacturing footprint, and underpin incremental defense revenues.
