Redwire Secures Taiwanese Coast Guard Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL Contract
RDW•Redwire secured a contract to supply its Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL UAS to Taiwan’s Coast Guard through Taiwan Color Optics, leveraging its vertical takeoff, landing and long-endurance capabilities for maritime surveillance. In May the company won an eight-figure, multi-year deal to deliver Penguin Mk3 drones to a NATO ally.
1. Taiwanese Coast Guard Contract
Redwire said its Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL UAS was selected by Taiwan's Coast Guard via Taiwan Color Optics to support maritime security. The contract leverages the drone's VTOL and long-endurance performance for coastline monitoring and reconnaissance.
2. Mk2.5 VTOL Capabilities
The Mk2.5 variant features vertical takeoff and landing, extended flight endurance, rapid deployment in contested environments, and integrated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems for day-night operations.
3. Ukraine Drone Deliveries
Since 2022 Redwire has supplied over 200 combat-proven Penguin drones to Ukrainian forces, demonstrating field performance in all-weather monitoring and targeting small moving objects.
4. NATO Mk3 Deal
In May the company won an eight-figure, multi-year contract to deliver its Penguin Mk3 variant to a NATO ally, highlighting enhanced modularity, mission adaptability and growth capacity for allied operations.
