Robinhood Faces Wisconsin Lawsuit While WonderFi AGM Deadline Extended to July 2026
Robinhood and WonderFi secured a Supreme Court of British Columbia order extending WonderFi’s AGM deadline from August 24, 2025 to July 2, 2026 as they advance post-closing integration ahead of a planned H1 2026 closing. The Wisconsin Department of Justice filed lawsuits seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions against Robinhood’s sports-related prediction-market contracts, alleging violations of state gambling laws.
1. AGM Deadline Extension
The Supreme Court of British Columbia issued oral reasons granting WonderFi an order to extend its annual general meeting deadline from August 24, 2025 to July 2, 2026 under s. 186 of the BCBCA. Robinhood and WonderFi continue post-closing integration work ahead of the expected H1 2026 closing of the arrangement under which Robinhood will acquire all issued and outstanding WonderFi shares.
2. Wisconsin Gambling Lawsuit
The Wisconsin Department of Justice filed lawsuits in Dane County Court seeking both preliminary and permanent injunctions to block Robinhood’s sports-related event contracts offered via its prediction market. The state alleges these contracts constitute illegal sports betting under Wis. Stat. § 945.03(1m) and amount to a public nuisance, aiming to halt in-state offerings.
