1. Race planned for early 2030s
Formula One agreed a 10-year deal for Rwanda to host a grand prix from the early 2030s. The planned purpose-built circuit would be near Bugesera, about 40 km south of the capital, Kigali, and is expected to be completed early in the next decade.
2. Return to the continent
The race would be Formula One's first in Africa since the 1993 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami. Rwanda would become the third African country to host a championship round, after South Africa and Morocco.
3. Rwanda cites investment
Rwandan President Paul Kagame said the partnership would bring jobs, skills, tourism and new business. Formula One Chief Executive Stefano Domenicali described the agreement as a long-term commitment, while seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has previously called for a race in Africa.
