Scripps Bee Returns to D.C. Constitution Hall May 26-28 with 247 Spellers

The Scripps National Spelling Bee returns to Washington, D.C.’s Constitution Hall for the first time in 15 years with 247 spellers competing May 26-28. Broadcasts of semifinals and finals will air on ION and multiple FAST channels, hosted by ESPN analyst Mina Kimes and Paul Loeffler.

1. Competition Returns to Washington, D.C.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee will take place May 26-28 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., marking the event’s return to the city after a 15-year absence. The historic venue on the National Mall will host all onstage rounds including preliminaries, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

2. Diverse Field of 247 Spellers

A total of 247 competitors aged 9 to 15 have qualified through local and regional bees, including six returning top finishers and 72 other veterans. Participants represent all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, with 13 entrants from international regions such as Canada, Nigeria and the U.A.E.

3. Broadcast Schedule and Hosts

Semifinals will stream live May 27 on Scripps Sports Network and FAST channels before airing on ION from 8-10 p.m. ET, while the finals will broadcast live May 28 on ION, ION Plus, Bounce, Grit, Laff and other Scripps FAST networks. ESPN analyst Mina Kimes and longtime Bee analyst Paul Loeffler will co-host the semifinal and final broadcasts.
