Select Medical Holdings to Exit S&P SmallCap 600 Ahead of Acquisition
SEM•Select Medical Holdings will be removed from the S&P SmallCap 600 effective before trading opens July 1 as its acquisition nears completion. Gulfport Energy Corp will replace Select Medical in the index on that date.
1. Removal from S&P SmallCap 600
Select Medical Holdings will be deleted from the S&P SmallCap 600 effective prior to trading on July 1. The removal arises from its pending acquisition, which when completed, will disqualify it from the small-cap classification.
2. Acquisition Nearing Completion
The acquisition of Select Medical is expected to close soon once final conditions are met, removing it from public small-cap market. Completion of the deal triggers index exclusion and ends the company's standalone trading.
3. Gulfport Energy to Replace in Index
Gulfport Energy Corp. will assume Select Medical's slot in the S&P SmallCap 600 on July 1, shifting exposure in the health-care sector to the energy sector. This replacement may adjust portfolio allocations for small-cap index funds.
