Sky Quarry Prepares July Start at Nevada Refinery with 100,000-Barrel Storage
DINO•Sky Quarry will begin operations at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, the state's only refinery, with 10,000 barrels of crude already on site and 100,000 barrels of storage capacity. Refinery operations are set to start in July as Western U.S. capacity shrinks due to closures.
1. Production Phase Initiation
Sky Quarry is transitioning its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, into the production phase, with operations slated to begin in July. Management views this shift as a move from asset repairs and funding toward generating operating margins, customer deliveries and positive cash flow.
2. Inventory and Storage Readiness
The facility holds approximately 10,000 barrels of crude oil and in-process inventory on site, demonstrating operational readiness and immediate throughput potential. With over 100,000 barrels of total storage capacity, the refinery can manage feedstock volumes flexibly and optimize processing schedules.
3. Strategic Market Position
As the only operating refinery in Nevada, Foreland occupies a unique position in a state heavily dependent on imported fuel, reducing logistics costs for local demand. The ongoing closure of Western U.S. refineries tightens regional supply, bolstering Foreland’s strategic value and potential pricing power.
