PARR•Sky Quarry is entering the production phase at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, with operations set to commence in July and 10,000 barrels of crude on-site. The facility’s more than 100,000 barrels of storage capacity positions it as Nevada’s only operating refinery as Western refineries exit the market.
After completing repairs and balance-sheet restructuring, Sky Quarry’s Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, is entering its production phase, with operations expected to commence in July. Management frames this shift as an inflection point from asset preparation toward generating operating margins and cash flow.
The facility currently holds approximately 10,000 barrels of crude and in-process inventory and offers over 100,000 barrels of total storage capacity. This on-site inventory and storage infrastructure provide operational flexibility and represent immediate working assets for refining operations.
Foreland is the only operating refinery in Nevada, a state historically reliant on fuel imports from neighboring regions. Local refining capacity reduces logistics costs, shortens supply chains and strengthens Sky Quarry’s position in a market that lacks in-state refining infrastructure.
Western U.S. refining capacity has contracted as several California refineries cease operations, tightening the regional supply-demand balance. This structural decline in available refining capacity increases the strategic value of the Foreland facility for meeting resilient fuel demand in the Intermountain West.
