SLB Secures Indonesia Sekincau Geothermal Pact, Adds $1.5B Kuwait Oil Deal
SLB signed agreements with Star Energy Geothermal, a Barito Renewables subsidiary, to plan and design the Sekincau geothermal project in Indonesia and identify future opportunities in North America. It also secured a five-year, $1.5 billion contract with Kuwait Oil Company for Mutriba field design, development and production management.
1. Indonesian Geothermal Collaboration
SLB has partnered with Star Energy Geothermal, a subsidiary of Barito Renewables, to undertake detailed planning and design for the Sekincau geothermal project in Indonesia. The agreement combines Star Energy’s resource development experience with SLB’s drilling, reservoir and subsurface technologies to advance project execution.
2. Global Expansion Framework
Beyond Sekincau, the collaboration establishes frameworks for identifying and evaluating geothermal opportunities in regions including North America. SLB will leverage its global project execution capabilities and advanced reservoir modeling to scale geothermal developments internationally.
3. $1.5B Kuwait Oil Contract
In a separate development, SLB secured a five-year, $1.5 billion contract with Kuwait Oil Company for the Mutriba field. The scope covers field design, development and production management, applying SLB’s expertise in complex reservoir conditions.
