Botha joined Sequoia Capital in 2003, serving as a managing member of Sequoia Capital Operations until stepping down in 2025, and previously rose to CFO at PayPal under Elon Musk’s leadership. He has served on audit committees of multiple public companies, bringing deep financial, investment, and managerial expertise.

SpaceX raised $75 billion in the largest IPO on record, surpassing Saudi Aramco’s 2019 offering, and has seen its market capitalization exceed $2.6 trillion with a roughly 50% stock gain since pricing at $135 per share. Elon Musk retains over 82% of voting rights, ensuring that shareholders have limited power to override board decisions.
