1. Strategic Equity Investment
On May 22, Starfighters Space announced a $17.5 million strategic equity investment led by global institutional investors to accelerate operational expansion and infrastructure build-out for its STARLAUNCH airborne launch platform. The funding targets completion of critical system tests and supports regulatory approvals ahead of an 18 to 24 month demonstration flight.
2. STARLAUNCH Development Milestones
The capital will advance wind tunnel testing validation and other technical milestones for STARLAUNCH, which uses supersonic MACH2+ aircraft as first-stage launch vehicles. The company aims to complete a space demonstration flight within 18–24 months, marking a transition from development to commercial deployment.
3. Leadership Appointments
Starfighters Space appointed Jose Arias as Vice President of Space Operations and Catrina L. Medeiros as Director of STARLAUNCH Operations, both recruited from Blue Origin. Their roles will oversee manufacturing integration, mission planning, and operational activities for the MACH2+ fleet based at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
4. Market Position and Future Outlook
As the only commercial operator of a fleet of flight-ready supersonic aircraft, Starfighters addresses growing demand for flexible, high-cadence space access. The fresh capital and leadership hires position the company to compete for defense and commercial satellite deployment contracts ahead of broader market growth.
