Stellantis extended its Mirafiori plant shutdown in Turin by one week to July 31, cutting hybrid Fiat 500 daily assembly to 400 units and raising demand concerns. Stellantis plans to jointly produce a China-made Jeep SUV in Wuhan for European launch by 2030, expanding its lineup to six models.
Stellantis extended the Mirafiori plant shutdown in Turin by one week from July 27–31, ahead of a planned three-week August stoppage, citing shortages of engines, bumpers and sensors that have disrupted hybrid Fiat 500 output and cut daily assembly to 400 vehicles.
The automaker will jointly produce a new large Jeep SUV at Dongfeng’s Wuhan facility for a European launch by 2030, marking an expansion to six Jeep models in the region and reinforcing its renewed China partnership.
Stellantis aims to build about 100,000 hybrid and electric Fiat 500 units in 2026 but has not reconfirmed that goal after repeated stoppages; the company is also deepening alliances with Chinese partners to boost capacity and leverage cost efficiencies.
