Tango JV Launches 200 MW Solar Capacity with PPA to AEP’s Indiana Michigan Power
Tango Holdings, a JV of Savion Equity and Ares Infrastructure, has brought two 100 MW solar plants online in Indiana and Ohio, adding 200 MW. The 850-acre Elkhart facility with 245,000 modules sells power to Indiana Michigan Power, while the 750-acre Marion site has a virtual PPA with a Fortune 100 tech firm.
1. JV Project Overview
Tango Holdings, formed by Savion Equity and Ares Infrastructure Opportunities, has executed a joint venture to develop five solar assets totaling 496 MW. Two of these—Elkhart County and Marion County—have reached commercial operation, each rated at 100 MW, with the remaining project still under construction.
2. Elkhart County Solar Details
The Elkhart County Solar Project spans 850 acres in Indiana and features 245,000 single-axis tracker modules generating 100 MW. It began construction in August 2024, is designed for a 40-year lifespan, and will deliver its full output under a power purchase agreement with Indiana Michigan Power.
3. Marion County Solar Details
Located on 750 acres in Ohio, the Marion County Solar Project also delivers 100 MW via 245,000 modules on single-axis trackers. Construction commenced in November 2024, the facility is engineered for 40 years of operation, and its entire output is secured under a long-term virtual PPA with an unnamed Fortune 100 technology company.
4. Partnership Implications for AEP
Indiana Michigan Power, an American Electric Power subsidiary, will integrate 100 MW of solar capacity from Elkhart County under the PPA, advancing AEP’s renewable energy portfolio. This deal supports the utility’s goals for cost-competitive power supply and decarbonization efforts on its grid.
