Tesla Unveils Two Semi Trims with Up to 500-Mile Range, Confirms 2026 Volume Production
Tesla introduced two Semi truck trims: the Standard offers 325-mile range at 1.7 kWh/mi with an 82,000 lb gross combination weight, while the Long Range delivers 500 miles at a curb weight of 23,000 lb. Elon Musk affirmed that high-volume Semi production will begin this year.
1. New Semi Trim Levels
Tesla’s Semi will be offered in Standard and Long Range configurations. The Standard trim provides up to 325 miles of range at an energy consumption rate of 1.7 kWh per mile with a gross combination weight of 82,000 lb. The Long Range model increases curb weight to 23,000 lb, likely due to a larger battery, extending range to 500 miles. Both trims can recover 60% of range with a 30-minute charge.
2. Production Ramp Confirmation
Elon Musk posted that Tesla Semi will enter high-volume production this year, underscoring the company’s commitment to scaling its heavy-duty EV offering. This marks a critical milestone as Tesla moves from prototype deliveries to commercial rollout at scale.
3. Early Deliveries and Partnerships
Tesla delivered its first Semi to DHL, which reported operations covering 100 miles per day and charging once weekly in California. The company also secured an Uber Freight partnership, positioning Semi as a cost- and maintenance-efficient solution for logistics operators.
