UNIT•Kinetic, Uniti’s fiber unit, has passed 2 million residential fiber premises across its 18-state service area, up from 1.94 million in Q1. Over 50% of its revenue now comes from fiber, and it secured $184 million in BEAD grants to expand builds in seven states.
1. Milestone Achievement
Kinetic reached a major network milestone by passing 2 million residential fiber premises across its 18-state service area, up from about 1.94 million at the end of Q1. The landmark was marked in the greater Lexington, Kentucky market, highlighting accelerated construction by internal and external teams.
2. Financial and Operational Impact
Fiber services now account for over half of Kinetic’s customer base and revenue, reflecting a strategic shift toward higher-margin broadband offerings. The unit also introduced a YouTube TV bundle and partnered with eero to roll out Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, aiming to boost customer retention and average revenue per user.
3. BEAD Grants and Expansion Plans
Kinetic provisionally won $184 million in BEAD grants to fund fiber builds in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas. These resources support its multi-year, multi-billion-dollar plan to extend multi-gigabit fiber internet to underserved rural and suburban communities.
