Unusual Machines Leases 14,000 sq ft Orlando Facility for Battery Operations
UMAC•Unusual Machines signed a lease for a 14,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Orlando to scale its battery operations ahead of the planned mid-Q3 2026 acquisition of Upgrade Energy. The acquisition will add Upgrade Energy’s existing 18,500 square feet of California production space to the company’s domestic battery output.
1. New Orlando Facility Lease
Unusual Machines signed a lease for a 14,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Orlando, Florida to support its battery business and drone component operations. The space will house battery pack assembly and testing lines ahead of the Upgrade Energy acquisition.
2. Acquisition Preparation
The lease aligns with the planned mid-third quarter 2026 closing of Unusual Machines’ acquisition of Upgrade Energy, which currently operates an 18,500 square foot battery production plant in California. This step ensures uninterrupted scaling of combined operations post-merger.
3. Expansion of Battery Production Capacity
Combined with Upgrade Energy’s existing California facility, the new Orlando site boosts Unusual Machines’ total battery manufacturing footprint to over 32,000 square feet. The expansion aims to meet growing demand for multi-cell battery systems used in commercial and defense drones.
4. Strategic Importance of Orlando Site
Establishing a manufacturing hub in Orlando enhances domestic capacity under NDAA compliance and shortens supply chains to East Coast customers. The site’s strategic location supports rapid delivery and bolsters Unusual Machines’ position in the U.S. drone industry.
