Vale board member Gasparino steps down amid governance tensions
VALE•Gasparino resigns from Vale board
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 27 (Reuters) - Brazilian miner Vale's board member Marcelo Gasparino said on Monday he had submitted his resignation from the company's board, the latest development in governance tensions that resulted in the election of a new chairman last week.
Vale's board had already decided to remove Gasparino for allegedly leaking confidential information from a June 19 meeting, but the move still required shareholder approval. Vale confirmed his resignation in a securities filing.
