VEON picks Amdocs for 10-year tech modernisation deal
VEON•VEON awarded Amdocs a 10-year contract to run and modernise its core technology operations. The companies did not disclose the deal’s value; two people familiar with its terms put it at around $100 million.
1. Contract details
The deal is aimed at giving VEON a lower-cost way to run the systems behind its telecommunications and digital services. It will start in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and may extend to VEON’s other markets.
2. Technology and strategy
Amdocs will use some technology from QazCode, VEON’s software unit in Kazakhstan, in its AI-enabled telecoms operating system aOS. Digital services account for about 27% of VEON’s revenue, alongside connectivity.
