Viking Therapeutics presents Phase 3 VK2735 obesity trial update
VKTX•Viking Therapeutics expects data from two Phase 3 trials of injectable obesity drug VK2735 in the second half of 2027. VANQUISH-1 enrolled more than 4,500 adults, while VANQUISH-2 enrolled approximately 1,000 adults with type 2 diabetes.
1. Trial and pipeline updates
Viking Therapeutics expects data from its VANQUISH-1 and VANQUISH-2 Phase 3 trials of injectable VK2735 in the second half of 2027. The trials enrolled more than 4,500 adults and approximately 1,000 adults with type 2 diabetes, respectively. Oral VK2735 is in Phase 3 SUNRISE trials, and the company initiated a Phase 1 maintenance study. Its amylin agonist VK3019 entered Phase 1 development in the second quarter of 2026. Viking said partnering discussions remain ongoing for MASH candidate VK2809 after the successful completion of its Phase 2b VOYAGE trial.
