Village Farms Begins Second-Phase Cultivation in 550,000 sq ft D-2 Expansion
VFF•After completing its first harvest from the initial phase of the 550,000 sq ft D-2 expansion, Village Farms began cultivation in the second phase, expecting a late August harvest. The company will accelerate lighting and technological upgrades into Q4 without extra capital expenditures and anticipates the full D-2 expansion will produce 40 metric tonnes of dried flower annually by Q3 next year.
1. Expansion Progress
Village Farms completed the first harvest from the initial phase of its 1.1 million sq ft Delta 2 greenhouse expansion, which converts 550,000 sq ft to cannabis production. Cultivation has now commenced in the second phase, with the next harvest slated for late August.
2. Technology Upgrades Acceleration
In response to rising demand, Village Farms moved planned lighting and other technology installations forward to the fourth quarter of this year. These upgrades will leverage equipment already purchased, avoiding any additional capital expenditures.
3. Production Outlook and Impact
Once fully complete, the Delta 2 expansion is expected to yield 40 metric tonnes of dried, trimmed flower annually, ramping to full capacity by the third quarter of next year. This scale-up should drive improved economies of scale and support profitable sales growth through 2028.
