Vital Farms Q3 revenue misses estimates; cuts FY forecast
VITL•Vital Farms’ third-quarter revenue fell 8.4% year over year to $182.16 million, slightly below estimates, while adjusted EBITDA of $1.50 million beat expectations. The company cut its 2026 revenue outlook to around $730 million, expects an adjusted EBITDA loss of about $15 million, and withdrew its 2030 financial targets.
1. Quarterly results
Revenue fell 8.4% year over year to $182.16 million, slightly below the $182.78 million analyst estimate. Vital Farms reported a net loss of $6.46 million, or $0.15 per share, while adjusted EBITDA of $1.50 million beat the $1.16 million estimate.
2. Outlook reduced
The company now expects 2026 net revenue of around $730 million, down from its prior forecast of $775 million to $800 million. It expects an adjusted EBITDA loss of about $15 million, compared with its previous outlook for a gain of up to $10 million, and withdrew its previously issued 2030 financial targets.
3. Factors cited
Vital Farms said lower prices and reduced volumes, particularly in retail, drove the revenue decline. Higher input and production costs, along with an oversupply that led to more low-margin sales, reduced gross profit. The company said its revised outlook reflects later-than-anticipated timing of new distribution placements and no seasonal uplift in demand or egg pricing.
