Wall Street equities climb after inflation data

Technology leads sector gains
Technology is by far the biggest sector boost, with both chips and software gaining. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index .SOX and the S&P 500 Software and Services Index .SPLRCIS are both up more than 1.5%.
The S&P growth index .IGV is up 0.8%, surpassing a roughly 0.5% advance in the S&P 500 value index .IVX.
Wall Street equities climb after inflation data
Wall Street's three main indexes are gaining ground on Thursday after July's latest inflation reading.
Most of the S&P 500's 11 major industry indexes were advancing, with technology .SPLRCT, real estate .SPLRCR and communication services .SPLRCL leading the charge with gains of 1% or more. The biggest decliner is energy .SPNY, which is down more than 1%.
Big drags from individual stocks are from Cisco Systems CSCO.O, off about 7%, after its revenue forecast for 2027 didn't meet lofty investor expectations, and Tapestry TPR.N, which is tumbling 15% after it forecast disappointing annual sales growth.
