Walmart Adds Subway Sandwiches to 30-Minute Delivery, Expands to 1,400 Stores
WMT•Walmart now delivers Subway sandwiches through its 30-minute Express Delivery service in six states—Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas—and plans to expand to 1,400 stores by end of summer. The company is embedding AI tools across its workforce and customer channels to enhance product recommendations and accelerate order fulfillment.
1. Subway Sandwich Delivery Launch
Walmart now offers in-app and online ordering of Subway sandwiches through its 30-minute Express Delivery service in six states—Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. Customers can order meals alongside store merchandise or groceries, delivered by gig drivers in under half an hour.
2. Expansion of Express Delivery Network
Walmart is rolling out its 30-minute delivery to 33 U.S. markets, adding over 100,000 eligible items for rapid fulfillment. By the end of summer, roughly 1,400 stores will support Subway meal delivery, leveraging an algorithm that selects fulfillment stores based on basket size, driver availability and distance.
3. AI Integration Across Operations
The retailer is embedding artificial intelligence tools across its workforce and customer interfaces to personalize recommendations, optimize inventory and accelerate order processing. These advancements aim to enhance shopping experiences and improve operational efficiency company-wide.
