Warsh says Fed does not need to harm full-employment job market to bring down inflation
SPY•Warsh says inflation can come down without hurting jobs
Sept. 16 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh said on Wednesday that the U.S. central bank can bring down inflation without harming the job market and that by ensuring price stability, sustainable economic growth can continue for a longer period.
"First, we believe that the unemployment rate is basically running consistent with full employment. I don't believe that we need to do harm to the labor markets to achieve our objective," Warsh told a news conference after Fed policymakers raised borrowing costs.
