Burnham will announce Great British Grid, a publicly owned body that aims to speed up grid connections for businesses and support reindustrialisation. He said he wants British energy costs to be in line with other European nations within ten years. He has said he will present social care plans at the next national election, due by mid-2029; Labour deputy leader Lucy Powell said the party is committed in this parliament to the pensions triple lock.
