ENSG•Ensign Group acquired Memory Care of Contra Costa, a 46-unit memory care facility in Pleasant Hill, California, under a long-term triple-net lease, and bought Woodland Health and Rehabilitation, a 62-bed skilled nursing facility in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. These June 1 additions raise Ensign’s portfolio to 396 operations across 17 states.
1. Acquisition Details
On June 1, Ensign’s captive real estate subsidiary, Standard Bearer, acquired the real estate for Memory Care of Contra Costa, a 46-unit memory care community in Pleasant Hill, California, under a long-term triple-net lease. In a concurrent transaction, Standard Bearer purchased the real estate and operations of Woodland Health and Rehabilitation, a 62-bed skilled nursing facility in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to be operated by an Ensign-affiliated tenant.
2. Portfolio Expansion
These transactions expand Ensign’s network to 396 healthcare operations, including 48 senior living communities, across 17 states. Standard Bearer’s owned real estate assets now total 181, enhancing the company’s fixed-income real estate portfolio.
3. Growth Strategy
CEO Barry Port reaffirmed that Ensign will continue to pursue real estate acquisitions and lease agreements for both high-performing and distressed skilled nursing, senior living and other healthcare businesses throughout the United States, highlighting the company’s aggressive expansion roadmap.
