FedEx: 5.9% Parcel Volume Growth to 3.6 Billion in 2025
FedEx delivered 3.6 billion parcels in 2025, marking a 5.9% gain but trailing Amazon’s 6.7 billion and USPS’s 6.6 billion volumes. The company is shifting away from low-margin last-mile B2C deliveries to focus on higher-revenue B2B logistics and heavy, long-distance shipping segments.
1. FedEx 2025 Parcel Volumes
FedEx delivered 3.6 billion parcels in 2025, a 5.9% year-over-year increase but still behind Amazon’s 6.7 billion and USPS’s 6.6 billion. UPS volumes fell 8.3% to 4.4 billion, highlighting FedEx’s relative parcel growth.
2. Shift Toward High-Value Shipments
FedEx is reducing investments in commodity last-mile B2C delivery to concentrate on B2B logistics and heavier shipments. The company targets parcels over 2 pounds traveling more than 300 miles and those exceeding 50 pounds, where it can command premium rates.
3. Industry Trends and Competitive Pressures
Overall parcel volume was flat at 23.9 billion units in 2025, with alternative carriers growing 13% to 2.6 billion. Amazon’s insourcing of last-mile work and contract wins from third parties are reshaping market share and pressuring traditional couriers.
