Generac Acquires Illinois Facility to Boost Large-MW Generator Packaging Capacity
GNRC•Generac will expand large-megawatt generator packaging capacity by acquiring a Belvidere, Illinois facility, complementing Enercon’s enclosure operations and adding over 100 jobs by Q1 2027. The move supports accelerated demand from data centers and mission-critical sectors and bolsters the Commercial & Industrial business with improved domestic manufacturing footprint.
1. Acquisition of Belvidere Facility
Generac has acquired a facility in Belvidere, Illinois, to expand its packaging capacity for large-megawatt generators. This site complements existing operations and is strategically located near major interstates for efficient equipment transport.
2. Expansion of Packaging Capacity
The new facility will enhance the company’s ability to assemble enclosures and finalize packaging of large generators, building on integrations from the February acquisition of Enercon Engineering. This boost addresses a critical need for scalable, shipment-ready units.
3. Market Demand Drivers
Demand for reliable backup power has surged in data centers and other mission-critical industries, driving the need for large-MW solutions. The expanded capacity positions Generac to capture growth in its Commercial & Industrial segment.
4. Job Creation and Timeline
More than 100 new jobs will be created when the Belvidere facility opens in the first quarter of 2027. This investment adds to recent expansions in Oshkosh, Beaver Dam, and Sussex, strengthening the domestic manufacturing footprint.
