Google signs 20-year power deal with Constellation for 890 MW of new nuclear capacity in PJM
CEG•Google signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Constellation to add 890 MW of nuclear capacity to the PJM grid. The deal supports more than $4.3 billion in investment, with the first added capacity expected by 2028.
1. Nuclear capacity investment
Constellation will fund uprates at 11 nuclear units in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey under the agreement. The first incremental capacity is expected by 2028. The deal implies more than $4.3 billion in new investment, sustaining about 4,400 jobs and supporting about 7,200 construction jobs during the buildout.
2. Additional agreements
A separate 15-year energy supply agreement covers 2,700 MW in PJM and is structured to keep existing assets serving the market. Constellation also expanded a five-year technology alliance to deploy Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise for grid operations, dispatch optimization and cyber protection.
