Lincoln Financial-EBRI study flags benefits education as key to boosting voluntary coverage uptake
LNC•Lincoln National and EBRI published research on voluntary benefits education, finding that 74% of employers offering voluntary benefits reported positive effects on recruitment, retention and performance, while employee interest exceeded 75% after plain-language descriptions.
1. Study findings
The study covered 408 employers, 170 brokers and 1,130 employees, focusing on supplemental health, dental and vision coverage. Only 11% of employers offered accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity coverage together, and 86% of employees spent four hours or less on enrollment materials.
