MELI•MercadoLibre launches 10-year dollar bond offer
Sept. 9 (Reuters) - MercadoLibre MELI.O on Wednesday launched a 10-year U.S. dollar bond offer that could raise as much as $1.5 billion, IFR reported on Wednesday, in what would be the Latin American e-commerce and fintech company's largest international bond sale on record.
- The company plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, as it continues to expand its fast-growing digital payments, consumer lending, logistics and technology operations across Latin America, IFR reported.
- MercadoLibre's funding needs have risen alongside the growth of its fintech arms, Mercado Pago and Mercado Credito.
- The deal is being arranged by Allen & Company, Bank of America, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Santander, with pricing expected later on Wednesday, IFR added.
- Fitch and S&P said the transaction could raise up to $1.5 billion. The deal follows MercadoLibre's $750 million seven-year bond sale in December 2025.
