Rio Tinto and the Western Australian Government formed a 50:50 joint venture to expand the Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant, delivering 4GL later this year and 8GL annually by 2027 to the West Pilbara Water Supply Scheme. 1. JV to Expand Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant

Rio Tinto and the Western Australian Government have formed a 50:50 joint venture to complete both Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant. Stage 1 construction is underway to deliver 4GL of desalinated water later this year, while Stage 2 will add a further 4GL by 2027, supplying a total of 8GL annually to the West Pilbara Water Supply Scheme and reducing pressure on regional aquifers.

2. American Century Increases Rio Tinto Stake

American Century Companies increased its position in Rio Tinto by 15.1% during the third quarter, acquiring 48,369 additional shares to hold 368,680 shares in total, signalling heightened institutional interest in the mining group.
