SK hynix reported record FY2025 revenue of 97.1467 trillion won, operating profit of 47.2063 trillion won (49% margin) and net profit of 42.9479 trillion won, exceeding prior records. 1. SK Hynix Surpasses Samsung in Annual Operating Profit
For the first time in 2025, SK Hynix reported full-year operating profit of 47.2 trillion won, edging out Samsung Electronics’ 43.6 trillion won. The crossover was confirmed when SK Hynix disclosed its earnings on Wednesday and Samsung followed on Thursday. SK Hynix’s narrow focus on memory has underpinned its record result, driven principally by its leadership in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI servers. By contrast, Samsung’s diversified portfolio saw its memory segment contribute 24.9 trillion won, diluting gains from its broader device and foundry operations.
2. Record-Breaking FY2025 Financial Performance
SK Hynix achieved all-time-high metrics in 2025 with revenue of 97.1467 trillion won, operating profit of 47.2063 trillion won (49% margin) and net profit of 42.9479 trillion won (44% margin). Year-on-year increases of 47% in revenue and 101% in operating profit marked the steepest growth in company history. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 34% to 32.8267 trillion won, while quarterly operating profit jumped 68% to 19.1696 trillion won, reflecting surging demand for both HBM and conventional server DRAM amid the AI infrastructure boom.
3. Launch of US-Based AI Solutions Subsidiary
In January 2026, SK Hynix announced plans to establish a U.S.-based AI solutions arm, tentatively called AI Company, by restructuring its California unit Solidigm. Backed by a committed capital pool of USD 10 billion, the new entity will serve as a hub for SK Group’s AI strategy, focusing on optimized data center systems leveraging HBM and other high-performance memory technologies. The move aims to deepen partnerships with leading U.S. AI firms and accelerate roll-out of integrated hardware-software offerings in key markets.
4. Exceptional Q4 Performance on AI Memory Demand
In the October–December quarter, SK Hynix posted revenue of 32.827 trillion won versus SmartEstimates of 32.132 trillion won, and operating profit of 19.17 trillion won compared with forecasts of 17.729 trillion won. Year-over-year, revenue climbed 66% and profit surged 137%. HBM revenues more than doubled, driven by supply contracts with major AI-chip makers, while tight industry capacity also lifted prices for conventional DRAM products. The company announced cancellation of 15.3 million treasury shares, equivalent to approximately 12.2 trillion won, to enhance per-share value.
